{"status":"success","data":{"title":"LockNow Privacy Policy","version":"v1.0","updatedAt":"2026-08-24","content":"
LockNow is a device-financing and protection service. When a phone is bought on an instalment plan through a LockNow retailer, this app is what lets the retailer secure the device until the plan is paid off. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what is done with it.
\n\n
1. Who this applies to
\n
This policy covers customers who have a LockNow-enabled device, and the retailers and staff who manage those devices through the LockNow apps and panel. By activating a LockNow key on a device, the customer agrees to the handling of information described here for as long as the instalment plan is active.
\n\n
2. What we collect
\n
\n
Identity and contact details — the customer's name and phone number, entered by the retailer when the plan is created.
\n
Device information — the IMEI or serial number, make, model and Android version, used to identify the specific handset the plan covers.
\n
Location — the device's approximate and precise location, used to locate the handset if payments stop or it is reported lost.
\n
SIM information — the operator and the numbers of the SIMs in the device, so a retailer can reach a customer whose registered number has changed.
\n
Instalment details — the amount financed, the schedule, and the payment status.
\n
KYC documents and signature — where the retailer captures a photo, an identity document or a signature to support the agreement.
\n
A messaging token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token that lets the server deliver lock and unlock commands to the device.
\n
\n
The app does not read your messages, your call recordings, your photos, your files, or the contents of any other app on the device.
\n\n
3. Why we collect it
\n
\n
To confirm which device a plan covers and to keep the plan's records.
\n
To enforce the plan — locking or restricting the device when an instalment is overdue, and unlocking it once payment is cleared.
\n
To help a retailer locate or recover a device in case of default, loss or theft.
\n
To send reminders and service notifications.
\n
\n
The information is used for these purposes only. It is not used for advertising and it is not sold.
\n\n
4. Device permissions
\n
The app asks for the permissions it needs to do the above, and no more:
\n
\n
Location — to locate the device for recovery.
\n
Phone and SIM state — to read the device id and SIM details.
\n
Display over other apps — so the lock screen can appear when an instalment is overdue.
\n
Device administrator and accessibility — so the app cannot be removed or disabled while a plan is running, as agreed at purchase.
\n
Notifications — to deliver reminders and status messages.
\n
\n\n
5. Device controls
\n
While an instalment is overdue, the retailer can lock the device or restrict some of its functions through LockNow. A locked device still allows emergency calls and shows the retailer's contact number and an unlock-code field. Once the overdue payment is cleared, the device is unlocked. When the full plan is paid, the device is released and the app can be removed on request.
\n\n
6. Who your information is shared with
\n
\n
Your retailer and the distributor above them, who manage your plan.
\n
Service providers we rely on to run the service — such as cloud hosting and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging — who process data only on our instructions.
\n
Authorities, where we are required to by law.
\n
\n
Your information is not shared with anyone else, and not with any advertiser.
\n\n
7. How long we keep it
\n
Information tied to an active plan is kept for as long as the plan runs. After a plan is completed or the device is released, records are retained only as long as needed for legal, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes, and are then removed.
\n\n
8. Security
\n
Information is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled servers. Lock and unlock commands are delivered through Google's messaging service and are tied to the specific device. No system is perfectly secure, but access to customer information is limited to the retailer managing the plan and authorised staff.
\n\n
9. Your choices and rights
\n
You can ask your retailer to see the information held about you, to correct it if it is wrong, and to have it removed once your plan is complete. Because the app enforces a financing agreement, some information cannot be removed while the plan is still running.
\n\n
10. Children
\n
LockNow is intended for use by adults entering a financing agreement. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
\n\n
11. Changes to this policy
\n
We may update this policy as the service changes. The current version and its date are shown at the top of this screen, and continued use of a LockNow-enabled device after an update means the updated policy applies.
\n\n
12. Contact
\n
For any question about this policy or the information held about you, contact your LockNow retailer, or reach the support desk through the app. Requests about your information are handled through the retailer who set up your plan.
"}}
